June's Birthday Cake With Butter Cream Icing

Oh yeah...Nobody remembers my birthday today. I just assumed that everyone is busy with their own affairs, not that it is any big deal but it will be nice if someone remember your birthday. I got an early message from my sister Veron wishing me a happy birthday, which was nice of her. Anyway I only came to realise that  it was my birthday when I saw her message and greeting and I thought of going to the cake shop and buy a cake but on second thought I better bake it myself since I have got all the things that were needed to bake a cake. I thus set out to bake a delicious butter cake. I piped butter cream icing onto it and it comes out just as I thought it would be, a cake that tasted delicious and looks like a space alien birthday cake, that was what my son Jonathan said after seeing the cake.

Glory Bower

Glory Bower Plant, I heard this plant name mentioned by my mum when we were younger. She had this plant planted in front of our house and I used to admire both its flower and its unique name. Imagine a plant with an attractive and arresting name as ‘Glory Bower’ or ‘Bleeding Glory Bower?’ If you observe closely you will see that in the centre of its flower there are about five red corollas which gained its name a bleeding heart. This is a tropical plant and it originates from Africa. If it is planted in the ground in the tropical zones, it can climb to a height of 15 feet like what you can see in the picture. This is a picture from my Condo garden. I have seen this plant flowered the whole year round.

Pretty Handkerchief

Handkerchiefs was once a must-have item for every lady but now the popularity has dwindled and the once popular pure cotton handkerchiefs are hard to find these days. There were also handkerchiefs for all occasions like a bridal or mourning handkerchiefs made of cotton or silk. I remember the time when mum bought us a box of pretty and lovely embroidered handkerchief. I was so excited to look at it, over and over again. Nowadays we have the disposable tissue paper, it may be more convenient but I think handkerchief is more economical to have. I recently came across a bunch of assorted colours handkerchiefs at a supermarket and I cannot resist the urge to purchase some and maybe keep it as a token of remembrance, though it is all made in China. I think it is an interesting hobby to start collecting handkerchiefs from around the world. I might do just that. Handkerchief can be personalized with your initial or name.

Money is the Root of all Evil

Here is another article written by Jonathan for his English Test. I think he expresses his opinion about money quite well. In no way would he wants to annoy people with his expressions or personal opinions about the said topic. I have enjoyed reading it myself.

Petunia Plant

I spotted this awesome and beautiful deep blue petunia flower in the garden of my Condo and I really like it. I have a keen interest in the petunia plant because it comes in a multitude of colours and it can either creep lower or entwined as a trellis or plant it in a hanging basket and it will cascade down as it flowers. Petunias are annual flowering plants, it can be planted in a pot, a hanging basket or window boxes which will make a beautiful window display. Brilliant, I thought I got other pictures of petunia taken on our trip to Windsor and Edinburgh a few years back.
