Money is the Root of all Evil

Here is another article written by Jonathan for his English Test. I think he expresses his opinion about money quite well. In no way would he wants to annoy people with his expressions or personal opinions about the said topic. I have enjoyed reading it myself.

Money. Money, Money I'ts a Man Best Friend

People often say “Money is The Root of All Evil”, this statement is not exactly true. Money becomes the master of someone only if he or she values money and riches above everything else. Money can help us in many aspects of our life, and on the other hand it can enslave us if misused.
We all need money to purchase items every day. Money can help us in our daily life. We require daily needs such as food and water; these are essential items to ensure our survival and well being. With money we can purchase these things. On the other hand, if people are obsessed with earning money, this can lead to self destruction. For example, if one only cares about work and earning more money, this can lead to broken families, broken lives and neglected children. This is why we should not let money enslave us and then ended up hurting others as well as ourselves.
Money is also crucial for education, whether it be our own education or our children’s in the future. Money is important in meeting an individual’s aspiration of gaining success in his or her career. Therefore, money is indeed important in pursuing a good education. In contrast to that, people who are not successful in life will resort to stealing and killing just to get monetary gain. For example, if you are a kid who wants to buy a new toy but does not have enough money, you won’t be worrying about the consequences of stealing. Once you start, you can never stop. It is very sad that many people value money more than life, whether it is their own life or others.
Money can also be used to do good deeds such as helping the poor, the sick and the needy. Although many of us are given the privilege to enjoy the luxury of life, there are others who still live in poverty and are less fortunate. Money can be use to help these poor people and to reduce inflation in the third world countries. Money is no doubt important to us all, especially the poor.
However, if an individual is full of avarice and greed, depression and corruption can arise from these negative ideas and thoughts. If money becomes the master of an individual, he or she will be corrupted and will try their very best to earn more money. We have an aim in our life, but we must also try our best not to be obsessed and compulsive about achieving it. We must know where to draw the line. For example, if one is obsessed with earning more money in life, he will never stop and will always try to earn more and more and more money. This is a mental disorder we must stay away from.
To sum it up, money can provide us the access to a wide range of benefits nevertheless, it also has its disadvantages and it can destroy a person if used unwisely. Although money is of paramount importance, extreme care must be taken not to indulge it with greed. That way life can be enjoyed with a bit of luxury and down to earth lifestyle.
